Hyenas and jackals have taken over the pride land

Hyenas and jackals have taken over the pride land

By, Israel A. Ebije Let me borrow from late Dr, Bala Mohammed who said: “if you are emotionally attached to your tribe or political leaning to the point that truth and justice become secondary considerations, your education is useless. Your exposure is useless. If you cannot reason beyond petty sentiments, you are a liability”. Buhari […]

Implication of terror identification and quite notice

Implication of terror identification and quite notice

By, Israel A. Ebije Nigeria is obviously riding a tempestuous wave on a battered raft with captains giving kneel jerk instructions and blind followers acting based on whims of their socio-politically challenged leaders. Ethnicity, religion has worked the unity of Nigeria to its weakest tolerable point, where the strings that bind us are shattered and […]

Hate speech sanction; Time to reflect, restitute and reposition

Hate speech is an integral aspect of a people gravely fragmented, failed in articulating collective aspirations. It is usually programed to illicit anger, hate, which ultimately dangerously affect corporate existence. Hate news in Nigeria has cultural, religious flavor, which is used as veritable seasoning for political meal of hate on the person or persons in power at a point in time.

Assessing the Multiple Tale Around Ozubulu Massacre

If the massacre of innocent lives at saint Patrick Catholic church,Amakwa, Ozubulu in Anambra state was shocking, bestial, the cacophony of tales tumbling from the mouths of those who claim to know the behind the mask executioners is unfortunate, toxic and indeed provocative. The immediate narrative was laced around two feuding ‘brothers’ who were both in South Africa doing drug trade. Names were not mentioned, motive not stated.

Buhari’s Health Myth and Nigerians story Telling Power

President Muhammadu Buhari has perfected the art and science of stealth, elusiveness amidst fabulous storylines that formed critical mass of supporters and detractors each time he travels for medication. He has eluded story tellers, doom prophets, agitators and indeed those who are on the speed lane to inherit his presidency. The president has again resurrected like a phoenix from the ashes of death to change his health narratives, which included dire prognosis and permutations.

Buhari’s Strong Voice of Weak Health

If many Nigerians were in doubt over the state of President Mohammadu Buhari health, the voice broadcast across media platforms on the occasion of Eid celebration has only made a resounding statement of his fragile state of health after spending more than fifty days on medical vacation in London. Once again, another antic by the presidency to silence “political” enemies have gone terribly wrong.

June 12: Beyond a “Harmless” Remembrance

Events after the infamous June 12 election may not be forgotten on account of sentiments that culminated in a bloodbath. The late Moshood Kashimawo Abiola was adjudged to have won election in 1993 and believed to have been denied his mandate. Twenty-seven years after the botch June 12 election, the pain continue to bite harder, building a critical mass, which makes it a potentially deadly part of our history.

Using Buhari ailment to stir up ethno-religious genocide

There is a piece circulating on the cyberspace titled; “President Muhammadu Buhari the Strongest man in Africa”. The author of the drivel alleged albeit tacitly how President Muhammadu Buhari has been poisoned with a category ‘A poison’. The writer said Buhari may have been given a full dose of the poison but was too strong to be felled like former Head of state, Gen. Abacha, and MKO Abiola, acclaimed winner of the June 12 1993 election.

Assessing FFK Narrative on Trust Issue in Nigeria

I watched a video clip published by a credible online media organization where Femi Fani Kayode (FFK), a former minister of the federal republic and Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra had chitchat and I couldn’t help pondering on the future of Nigeria. I don’t know when the video was shot but my best guess would be two weeks ago after Kanu was released on bail. What FFK hinted on in that video is instructive as mistrust, dishonesty, hate has become our vanity, our bane in Nigeria.
