Jonathan congratulates Eagles
For beating the Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire and securing the semi-final ticket at the ongoing African Cup of Nations holding in South Africa, President Goodluck Jonathan yesterday thanked the Super Eagles for their superlative performance.
The Nigerian team, who were not given any chance to advance beyond the quarter-final stage, beat Cote d’Ivoire 2-1 to secure the semi final ticket.
The excited president, according to a Twitter message by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati, told the players that time has come for them to soar higher like the Super Eagles they are.
Abati wrote, “President Jonathan thanks the Super Eagles for their masterly and superlative performance in the just-concluded AFCON encounter with CIV.
“President Jonathan says to the Super Eagles now is the time to really begin to soar like the Super Eagles that they are.
“President Jonathan joins all Nigerians in celebrating today’s victory by the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
“The president has watched all the matches including this last one,” he stated.
