FIFA welcomes Flying Eagles

World football governing body, FIFA, yesterday afternoon formally welcomed Nigeria Under-20 team to the World Cup in Turkey. Kayseri Venue General Co-ordinator, Juan Carlos, from Argentina, presided at  the meeting where players and officials were briefed on what is expected of them both on and  off the pitch.

The obligations, which ranged from marketing to media, were presented to the Flying Eagles at their Hilton Hotel in Kayseri. Each player, who made the final 21-man squad for the Under-20 World Cup received a token $100 from FIFA as well as a certificate of participation.

Team accreditation was also completed. Meanwhile, the Flying Eagles trained twice yesterday ahead of their opening Group B match against Portugal on Friday. They are expected to train only once today in the evening and tomorrow they will train at the match venue.

Debutants, Cuba and South Korea, are the other teams in Group B based in Kayseri.
