You Met Us In Politics – Gen. Airhiavbere Warns Obaseki
- says Obaseki has perfected plans to decamp to Action Alliance
- Oshiomhole remains the leader
- Lawrence Okah remains the secretary
- says they will meet Obaseki fire for fire
Politicians and members of the All Progressives Congress are worried over the increasing and uncontrolled crisis rocking the party in the state.
Since the Edo State governor, Godwin Obaseki and his former Principal, now, the National Chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomhole fell out of marriage, the APC leadership had thrown itself into anarchy and splits into two camps.
While some formed a group, Edo Peoples Movement, others have organized themselves fighting on social media as the battle for the next occupant of 2020 Osadebe Avenue approaches.
In an interview with the NAN, one of the contestants of the governorship primaries in 2016, Gen. Charles Airhiavbere expressed worry over the political instability in the state party.
He said the party had of recent witness threat that was capable of destroying the future and chances of winning the upcoming governorship election.
Airhiavbere said the homes of the APC leader was attacked by some interests in the state.
“We condemn these acts. They are unacceptable to genuine leaders of the APC in Edo State.
“We use this opportunity to also condemn the attack at the residence of our National Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole by thugs.’’
You Can’t Dethrone Oshiomhole
The APC leader said those Oshiomhole brought to power are the ones set to “dethrone” him.
“The crisis originated from the fact that the trio of Gov. Obaseki, his deputy, Mr Philip Shaibu and the Secretary to Government, Mr Osarodion Ogie were sponsored into office by Oshiomhole.
“But today, the three men have vowed to dethrone Oshiomhole as the leader of the APC in Edo State.
But let me state categorically that we will not allow them to embarrass Oshiomhole.”
Airhiavbere said Oshiomhole remained remains the leader of APC in Edo State just as Mr Lawrence Okah remains the authentic state secretary of the APC.
“Let me warn Obaseki that he met us in this game of politics and he should know that he has no monopoly of violence.
“We are only playing it cool because he has perfected plans to defect to the Action Alliance. So his intention is to destroy the APC in Edo State.
“But I don’t think we will fold our arms and allow him destroy this party.
“We will meet him fire for fire, energy for energy and word for word,” Airhiavbere said, alleging that the governor’s plan was “to cow everybody in his bid to get a second term ticket.’’
