Yahaya Bello Nominates Onoja As Achuba’s Replacement
The governor of Kogi state, Yahaya Bello, on Friday nominated Edward Onoja, running mate in the November 16 election, as deputy governor of the state.
Reports say that the governor has sent the name of Onoja to the state assembly for confirmation.
The development comes a few hours after the Kogi state house of assembly removed Simon Achuba over alleged gross misconduct.
NAN reports that Onoja is expected to be sworn into office today, Saturday, 19 October 2019.
It is gathered that the new running mate is the most powerful member of the governor’s cabinet and his relationship with the governor started long before 2016.
Brief Biography of Edward Onoja
Onoja, 44, a Geologist hails from Emonyoku Ogugu in Olamaboro Local government area of Kogi State.
In 2011, he contested on the platform of the former All Nigerian Peoples Party (ANPP) for the house of assembly.
Onoja, a loyalist was the state director of the Kogi Youth Arise Group. The group worked for the election of President Muhammadu Buhari in 2015.
The new deputy was also the chief strategist of Yahaya Bello Campaign Organisation in 2015.
He suddenly resigned from his office as the chief of staff two days ago before his appointment by the governor.
He was immediately replaced by a pharmacist, Abdulkareem Jamiu.
