Tinubu Has Achieved More Than MKO Abiola, Awolowo, Says Ogunlele
A former Ministers of works Adeseye Ogunlele says the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Bola Tinubu has achieved more than Late Obafemi Awolowo.
Ogunlele described Tinubu as the most prominent politician in the south-west of Nigeria.
The former Minister also said the APC leader has achieved more than the acclaimed winner of the June 12, 1993 presidential election, MKO Abiola.
He said this during an interview with the Daily Independent.
Ogunleye represented Lagos East from 1999 to 2003.
The former Senator denied saying the north will stop Tinubu from contesting for the No 1. position in the country and may end up like Abiola if he did.
He said he has high hopes for Tinubu’s presidency.
“He (Tinubu) is the most prominent Yoruba person that has paid his dues and is knowledgeable about the politics of Nigeria. I am confident he can lead Nigeria well if he becomes president,” he said.
“How can I say that the north will deny Tinubu and he will end up like MKO Abiola? All these people are enemies of progress… Hasn’t he (Tinubu) done more than MKO Abiola? Hasn’t he done more than Awolowo?”
” Maybe not in terms of perfomance but he has more in terms of skills, wisdom. Look at the way he has been able to cover all parts of Nigeria.
“Look at the number of people he has been able to promote from nothing to be governors, ministers and even Vice-President:.
“Believe it or not, whether you like him or you don’t like him, you must give him credit. All those saying negative things are not knowledgeable about Nigerian politics. If you are knowledgeable about Nigerian politics, you should know that you cannot remove the man’s achievements from him.”
What Babachir Lawal Had Said
.It could be recalled that a former secretary to the government of the federation, Babachir Lawal said Tinubu was fit to rule Nigeria.
Lawal also said the APC leader has what it takes to lead Nigeria in 2023.
The sudden hints about Tinubu’s capabilities to rule Nigeria may be related to reports that the APC leader was eyeing the presidency in 2023.
However, Tinubu is yet to speak publicly about his plans.
