Nigeria Economy Is In A Bad Shape – Buhari Confesses To Governors
President Muhammadu Buhari is said to have told state governors on Friday that the economy is bad, according to the Governor of Zamfara State Abdulaziz Yari who disclosed it to the
Yari, who is the Chairman of Nigeria Governors’ Forum was one of the governors who attended the meeting at the Presidential villa on Friday.
Buhari called the meeting to address the minimum wage for Nigeria workers.
A presidential committee set up by the government under the leadership of a former Head of Service of the Federation, Ama Pepple, recommended that the new minimum wage should be increased from N18,000 to N30,000.
However, the governors had refused to obliged and warned that such drastic increment may lead to loss of jobs.
The Zafara Governor told journalists that Buhari informed the governors that “The economy is in a bad shape and that we have to come together, think and rethink on the way forward.”
