Presidential Debate: It’s a Waste of Television airtime, Says Pedro Obaseki

Dr Pedro Obaseki, President of Midwest Movement says the on-going presidential debate in which the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Muhammadu Buhari are absent, is a complete waste of airtime.

He told NAIJA CENTER NEWS on Saturday that a debate where the star players, particularly the President who is asking Nigerians for a re-election was absent was a waste of time.

Dr Obaseki said rather than query the absence of Atiku, Nigerians should focus on Buhari who has ruled Nigeria for the last 4 years.

“Movies are about Star Players. The principal Actor, to whom Nigerians gave a Mandarin these last 4 years, and for whom many have lost their lives in the past, is GENERAL BUHARI.

“It is HIS absence we should Query. It is HIS participation that is paramount and sufficient. Is he CHOOSES TO BE ABSENT, the others have No Business there. They waste airtime!

“Let’s be practical and pragmatic. Anything less, is an exercise in futility. Simple.”

The MM President questions the rationale behind Nigerians’ anger towards Atiku for not attending the debate, saying “Who are the angry Nigerians? Will I be angry with a man who has NOT YET be voted for? Or more with the man who rules my life currently.”

NAIJA CENTER NEWS had reported that Atiku opted out of the debate after being informed that Buhari was not attending.

Atiku, however, apologised to Nigerians on his twitter, challenging Buhari to a one on one debate.
