BENIN—THE All Progressives Congress, APC, in Edo State has described as “funny,” the claim by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the state that Governor Adams Oshiomhole had performed below expectation in the last seven years.
The party also warned against what it described as sponsored protests in the state against the APC-led government, noting that the PDP, “because of its failure and desperation for 2016 governorship race, is doing everything possible to cause havoc in the state in the name of land use charge, but we will stem them.”
The state chairman of the APC, Mr Anslem Ojezua, who regretted that for 10 years the PDP government squandered the resources of the state, added that the party lacked the moral right to speak against the APC-led government in the state that had brought development across the state.
He said: “PDP lacks the credentials to comment on the issue of performance having abused and squandered the opportunity given to it in the past. Oshiomhole’s legendary achievements in Edo State speak volumes. Capital projects are still being executed when other state governments are unable to pay salaries. Majority of Edo people are today happy because they have started seeing what they have never seen before in terms of development and government’s determination to meet the demands of the people.
“It is on record that all the roads constructed under the PDP are nowhere to be found because all they did was to build sub-standard roads and pocket the money.
But Oshiomhole has sincerely invested the funds of the state into projects that will touch the lives of the common man. Today PDP and its leaders are frustrated because they can no longer get hold of power. Edo people have rejected them because of their selfish attitude to governance.”
