Edo Election: Pastor Ize-Iyamu rejects election result

The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu has rejected the announcement made by INEC which declared the APC candidate the winner of the Edo State governorship election conducted on Wednesday.
According to the Ize-Iyamu, some officials of Independent National Electoral Commissioner called him at midnight that the results were being tampered with at their office. He revealed that he couldn’t call for press conference due to the time of the incidence.
He also accused INEC of working with APC and Godwin Obaseki in rigging election.
“Some Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officials called us that results were being manipulated and we just thought that it was not possible to call a press conference around 2am or 3am and decided to do it this morning.
“At the time the result started coming, it was cleared to us that the information we got was correct. So we do not intend to wait for all the result to be announced. So far the result so far has clearly showed that what they announced is pre-written and predetermined.
“We don’t want to resort to violence, that is not our nature but the first thing we would do is to look at all the results and then we will publish for Edo people to see what should have been the correct result and what INEC has done.
“Clearly what they are announcing now cannot be what happened yesterday in fact by the time they finished, it would appear that this is the lowest turnout in Edo history. Do you know that this is the highest and how come there is such a conflict in the result? And again , people are calling us now on TV that our result in Edo Central are being rejected on the basis that the card readers there did not work. If i INEC sent card readers that did not work to Edo central, did that not say everything?”
