Outrage over Buhari recent appointment
By Ehi Ekhator, Naija Center News
Nigerians have reacted negatively over President Buhari’s recent appointment.
Buhari appointed the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Chief of Staff. Comptroller-General, Nigerian Customs Service, Comptroller-General, Nigerian Immigration Service, Senior Special Assistant on National Assembly Matters (Senate); SSA to National Assembly Matters (House of Representatives) on Thursday as announced by his aide Femi Adesina.
Though there are other ethnics listed among the newly named positions, Some Nigerians believed that the President is biased by appointing the most important positions to the north.
Many of those who complained as monitored by NAIJA CENTER NEWS, are members of the All Progressives Congress who may have voted for the President during the March 28 general election.
Albert Osibanjo Buhahist who posted his grievance on his Facebook said ” I call on my fellow APC guys to call a spade a spade.. This is Nonsense, he can’t keep relegating those that oiled day and night to see him succeed”
Some others reacted on series of tweets to the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the President, Mr. Femi Adesina.
A Nigerian with the twitter handle politikal Nigerian said “tell our Baba that we need to look towards the south east! The ministerial list should come out fast to quell the fire”
Thompson Johnson, an environmental economist who responded to the tweet by the Media aide said “
@FemAdesina egbon baba buhari is not sensitive to regions in Nigeria. Time will tell. Just wish him well. At our time Yoruba will take all”
Odimba Stanley, another aggrieved Nigerian said “
@FemAdesina 2 SUCH BIAS APPOINTMT DOES NT SPEAK WELL.NIGERIANS WIL TK D FIGHT AGAINST CORRUPTION WITH A PINCH OF SALT. PEOPLE RE DISGRUNTLED”
Samuel Meyiwa Khalil on his Facebook said “President from the North, Speaker-North, Senate President North, SGF North, COS North. Every appointment so far occupied by Northerner. Any Southerner praising these appointments must be a descendant of slave”
Osagiede Osarenmwinda: “I am APC fan it is not done in the world..that all strategic positions like the presidency, federal secretary, chief of army staff, chief of staff to the presidency, etc coming from one region ! these positions are too strategic to come from one region !”
Chinedu Nwogu:”I supported this change but it must be inclusive,PMB’s appointment so far shows so much indiscretion and probably a grand agenda, he is beginning to wear the cloak that Jonathanians accused him of, these are bad moments for equity and inclusive governance.”
It could be recalled that Buhari had said while responding to a question in the United State that those who voted for him will be rewarded and while those who didn’t would only get government security.
The assertion circulated on the social media with many lashing out to the president for referring to them as the 5%.
