Like Obasanjo’s Son, Okupe’s Son Joins Buhari Campaign Team
A former aide of ex-President Goodluck Jonathan and Olusegun Obasanjo, Dr. Doyin Okupe disclosed on Twitter on Thursday that his son has chosen to work for the incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari just to spike him.
The spokesperson for President Buhari 2019 Presidential Campaign, Festus Keyamo (SAN) released a photo of himself and Okupe’s son, Ditan Okupe on twitter which further information that he has volunteered to work for Buhari’s re-election.
Okupe who campaigned for the presidential bid of Senate President Bukola Saraki and has remained a strong member of the Peoples Democratic Party was surprised to hear that his son was working for the opposite camp.
Okupe tweeted “Ditan Okupe is my son. He is a very brilliant young man. He went to King’s College, Lagos; Buckingham University, UK; and did a postgraduate (degree) in law at the London School of Economics. We both have had serious issues in the last five years. This may be his way of getting back at me. I wish him luck.”
The former aide refused to explain the details of the fight between him and his son, saying that it was a family matter.
“It is impossible to explain intricate and confounding family issues in a single tweet. Please refrain from making a judgement on what you know nothing about.
“What is between Ditan and I will never be discussed publicly, even if it costs me my whole political career. I love him with my whole heart.”
Okupe cleared Keyamo of all wrongdoing, saying his move was pure politics.
“Keyamo is my friend and lawyer. He is still handling a case for me at the Supreme Court.
“He called me tonight on his acquaintance with Ditan, who also has been trying for months to get the contacts of people he considers my political foes, including Tinubu, Kashamu, OGD etc. For him, this is his finest hour.
“Keyamo as my lawyer has not breached any ethics of his profession by using my son against me. This is politics, pure and simple.
“In this game, I am a master. Yoruba says. It is not the day a child abuses an Iroko tree that the tree falls on him. Tomorrow will surely come.”
The PDP official isn’t the only one with the problem, Olujonwo Obasanjo, a son of a former President of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo had also pitched a tent with Buhari against his father who had sworn to unseat the President for his underperformance.
After meeting with Keyamo, Olujonwo also said “I stand with PMB 2019”
