IBB Letter to Buhari: Order for my arrest not true – Kassim Afegbua
Prince Kassim Afegbua, the spokesman to a former President of Nigeria, Ibrahim Babangida has debunked a report that the Inspector General of Police Idris Ibrahim ordered his arrest.
Controversy trailed the authenticity of a statement released by the spokesman on behalf of his boss, urging the President, Muhammadu Buhari not to recontest in 2019.
The statement which had attracted doubt appealed to Nigerians to allow the President finish his tenure before kicking him out.
Babangida called for youths inclusion in today’s politics, a call similar to the statement made by another former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo.
A few minutes later, another statement allegedly emanated from Minna debunking the statement earlier released by Prince Afegbua.
On Channels TV, the spokesman reiterates his boss position, adding that he wouldn’t release a statement if Babangida did not approve.
He said “The statement stands and i have so communicated to all the media houses that they should respect that statement as coming from IBB. Those are his thoughts and it didn’t emanate from my head. We sat down, we articulated them and we put them in perspective so that Nigerians can begin to interrogate the issues he raised in that statement”
Responding to NAIJA CENTER NEWS on his order for his arrest, Prince Afegbua said “There is nothing like that. I have just spoken to my boss IBB a couple of minutes ago.”
