I never met South West PDP delegation –Anenih
Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustees (BoT), Chief Tony Anenih, has denied ever meeting a delegation from South West. In a letter by Barrister Peter Abulu, his COS, reacting to a publication by Daily Sun, our sister publication, on July 1, 2013, Anenih said the publication was false.
The letter, dated July 1, 2013 reads: “The attention of Chief Tony Anenih has just been drawn to a publication on page 53 of Daily Sun of today, Monday, July 1, 2013 with the above caption.
“In the said publication, Chief Anenih was quoted to have told a PDP delegation from South West that ‘we need to work hard now because we have a (presidential) mandate to move beyond 23 states in our control and win at least 32.’ He was further quoted to have said that ‘PDP is the party to beat; when the time comes, I assure you we will do what we know how to do best.’
“I am directed by Chief Tony Anenih to inform you that the said publication is completely false and a figment of the imagination of Ndubuisi Orji, the writer of the story because Chief Anenih was neither in any meeting held with a delegation from South West nor did any delegation from South West pay him a visit.
“Therefore, Chief Tony Anenih demands that you retract the said publication within seven days, with an apology, giving it prominence in your newspaper, so as to correct the erroneous impression created by the writer, in the circumstance.” EDITOR’S NOTE: We apologise to Chief Tony Anenih for the embarrassment the publication may have caused him.
