General Election: It’s Hard To Predict Winner, Says Ekweremadu
The Deputy President of the Senate Ike Ekweremadu said on Saturday he cannot accurately predict the winner of the coming Presidential election.
The Senator was responding to a question during an interactive radio programme on Urban 94.5 FM Radio, Enugu about who the possible winner for the Saturday general election might be.
Ekweremadu said both political parties have keen contestants and as such, no one can accurately predict the winner.
He, however, said that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has significantly improved, which he said was an indication that those of them who chose to stay back after the 2015 defeat had paid off.
He said he stayed back PDP even during trying times as a way of making sure Nigeria continues to enjoy a balanced democracy and to promote multi-party system.
He said, “Let me tell you the exact thing about what is happening presently. Ahead of the presidential election, no one can surely say that this party would win or this candidate would win. But in 2015 or 2016, nobody gave PDP a chance and today PDP has bounced back to life.
“So, when you watch the rallies, you say oh, this is a huge crowd for the APC (All Progressives Congress) in Adamawa or that was a huge PDP (Peoples Democratic Party) crowd in Katsina, the home of the President.
“That is an interesting thing and that is exactly what we worked for and we are able to see Nigerians participating. So, I am happy when I see this close contest and by the grace of God, PDP will win,” he added
