Election Tribunal: I Dedicate My Victory To Nigerians, Says Buhari
President Muhammadu Buhari says the ruling of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal is a victory for Nigerians who came out in mass to vote him for the second term office.
This was contained in a statement signed on Wednesday by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina.
Buhari declared “Good conscience fears no evil report. I was unperturbed all along because I knew Nigerians freely gave us the mandate. We are now vindicated.”
The President dedicated his victory to God and Nigerians while commending the judiciary for ‘dispensing justice without fear or favour’
Buhari called on those who felt aggrieved at the outcome of the election to join him but acknowledging that it was within their democratic rights to drag him to court
Mr Buhari noted that with the pronouncement of the judiciary, “it is time for the country to move forward as one cohesive body, putting behind us all bickering and potential distractions over an election in which Nigerians spoke clearly and resoundingly.”
The presidential election petition tribunal had struck out the petition challenging the victory of President Muhammadu Buhari in the last election.
In its judgement on Wednesday, the tribunal said the petition filed by Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lacked merit.
NAIJA CENTER NEWS immediately contacted Paul Ibe, Atiku Abubakar ‘s media aide on the development, he said: “Our lawyers would respond appropriately with a response, as you can see the process is still ongoing “.
