The two wards were awarded by the administration of Adams Oshiomhole.
This further buttressed the speculation that the former governor and his former bride, Godwin Obaseki are in a battle over the leadership of the state.
The investigation was made known on Sunday in Benin by the Special Adviser to Edo Governor on Media and Communication Strategy, according to NAN’s report.
Osagie said the enquiry would soon be constituted to probe the contracts.
The aide reportedly said the government decided to look into the contracts which has attracted several reactions from Edo people to ascertain due process and the genuity of the billions spent
The government will look into how billions were spent on a poorly executed projects under the administration of Oshiomhole, Osagie reportedly disclosed.
He said the Enquirers would look into the process of the contracts that were awarded, and the qualities of materials used for the building.
“The state government will investigate allegations of fraud and irregularities with the contract for procurement of the hospital equipment,” he said.
The government would also investigate the reason behind the delay of the supply of equipment and other claims made by the contractors.
He said: “The contractors who handled the building had questions to answer including the shoddy jobs done among others.”
Osagie disclosed that there are workers currently working at the poorly executed facilities due to a collapse of the roof in some sections.
