The Senator representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District, Shehu Sani has tendered his resignation from his party, the All Progressives Congress.
This was contained in a letter dated October 19 and addressed to the National Chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomhole.
At the time of filing this report, Shehu did not give reasons for his sudden decision.
Initially, the APC headquarter announced that Sani was unanimously cleared to contest for the Kaduna Central senatorial seat, a decision that attracted protests from the state government and its officials.
Later the government alleged that the decision had been reversed.
The state governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai and Shehu Sani had been at loggerhead immediately they were both elected into their respective offices.
Both officials have been cursing and publicly ridiculing themselves despite belonging to the same political parties.
Shehu had made plans to leave the APC with the R-APC but pulled out of the defection after meeting with the President, Muhammadu Buhari who was reported to have assured him of his re-election.
