Breaking: Kogi State Deputy Governor Impeached

The Deputy Governor of Kogi State, Simon Achuba has been removed by the Kogi State House of Assembly.

The decision was reached after the committee set up to investigate the allegations of misconduct levelled against him submitted its report.

The house went into a closed-door meeting after the seven-man committee submitted the report to the speaker of the house, Mathew Kolawole

The Assembly commenced impeachment proceedings against Achuba on August 7.

The Majority leader of the house read a petition against the deputy governor after which the house commenced impeachment proceedings.

The lawmaker representing Ajaokuta state constituency, Abdulahi said on Friday that Achuba was impeachment after careful consideration.

He said the decision to remove Achuba was studied and deliberated upon.

The speaker had commended the committee after the report was submitted by the committee.
