The embattled governor of Imo State Rochas Okorocha said on Tuesday that his support for the success of President Muhammadu Buhari’s re-election is unquestionable.

He made the statement at the Government House in Owerri to douse the question of his loyalty. He also revealed that he was still in the All Progressives Congress, APC.

The governor is one of the APC aggrieved governors who is out to get the National Chairman of the party for allegedly removing his brother-in-law’s Ugwumba Uche Nwosu as the governorship candidate of the state.

Okorocha said Nwosu remained the best candidate for the state election because he is a visionary.

The governor said: “He is visionary, dutiful, hardworking and a proactive young man. He remains the best among all the candidates for the governorship election in the state.”

The governor, as one of the founding father of the APC, argued that he was still in the party.

“I cannot be part of destroying the mansion I have helped in the building. I totally support the APC and all of its candidates for the 2019 general elections.”

He, however, described the recent events that led to the removing of his brother in law’s name from the governorship primaries as a political injustice.

Okorocha said the APC that was known for its uprightness and justice has lost its integrity and purposeful bearing.  He lamented that Senator Hope Uzodinma which was favoured by the National Working Committee of the party was not the peoples’ choice.

The governor denied being embattled in any form. He argued that the problem he has with the party was because of his political sagacity.

The aggrieved governor called the National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole “gullible” for allowing some disgruntled members of the party to deceive him.

“I still have my numerous supporters with me, but those who are naïve who want to leave and have left, I wish them good luck. This is because I cannot stop them.”
