Speculation from a section of the media revealed that the Supervising Minister of Education, Mr. Nyesom Wike has tendered his resignation to President Goodluck Jonathan.
According to the publication, quoting a source, Wike’s resignation is as a result of his governorship ambition in Rivers State. It was said that the resignation will take effect from April 1, 2014.
The President for some personal reasons, has refused to accept the resignation, but another source revealed that Wike’s resignation will be announced next week during the Federal Executive Council Meeting.
Responding to the speculation, Wike’s spokesperson, Mr. Jerry Needam, who spoke with Naija Center News (NCN) on phone debunked the publication, saying that it was a mere fabrication. He said “It’s not true, Wike has not resigned”
Further calls to Mr. Wike was not answered.
