Rivers Gets First Case As Coronavirus Reaches 51 In Nigeria
The positive cases of the dreaded Coronavirus in Nigeria have now reached 51, with Rivers State joining the list of states with the virus.
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) made this known via its Twitter handle on Wednesday.
The disease control body disclosed that one of those infected is in Rivers while Lagos and Abuja recorded two new cases each.
The Civic 19 virus has now spread to is eight states and the federal capital territory (FCT). While Lagos has the highest number with 32, FCT follows with 10 and Ogun, three.
Ekiti, Oyo, Edo, Bauchi, Osun, and Rivers have one case each. Two persons had earlier recovered from the disease which has killed one person in Nigeria.
The Lagos State government shut down some markets and shops across the state with most schools in the country closed.
The global positive cases are now put at 467,500 while at least 21,170 deaths have been recorded.
