Chief Osamede Adun popularly known as Bob Izua has responded to the sudden destruction of his complex at the centre of the city, Ring road, Benin City.
The government had claimed that Chief Adun violated planning rules, adding that no one was above the law.
On the contrary, Chief Adun claimed that he had received a letter from the government in which he responded and was given till next week to make the necessary adjustment.
He stated that people pushed the governor to destroy his complex.
The Chief who is also a member of the All Progressives Congress in the state said the government did not have the right to destroy his building without compensation.
He said “Does the government have right to seize another person’s property? NO. Before you acquire a house, inform the owner of the house and compensate.
“This incident was not announced in any media that the government want to acquire the house, if the government intended to do that, it should acquire the entire area, not only one man’s property. Like the Muslim school they claimed they acquired but now i am seeing another thing in the Muslim school. Am I the only property owner there?
“If they think i will fight the government, i will never fight the government, God will fight for me. I am a member of the All Progressives Congress and what do you think the PDP is doing now, they are probably laughing at me. Is this not shameful?
“If they think something was wrong with the building, they could have call me inside and ask me to pull it down instead of going there and break it down.
“God will help the governor and I know people pushed him to do it. The government had written to me and i responded that it should give me time to adjust. I was given to next week and surprisingly, the building was brought down at night.”
