Tragedy struck Dadin Kowa, a suburb of Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State, when a middle-aged man was electrocuted while attempting to steal electric cable.
Saturday Newswatch gathered that residents of the area and neighbouring villages woke up to discover the corpse on the electric pole.
The incident which many believed occurred at about midnight, left the suspected thief burnt severely with no body willing to identify with the corpse.
When Saturday Newswatch got to the scene, the lifeless body was still dangling on the pole with the stools used in cutting some of the electric wires.
It was gathered that the incident occurred at the outskirts of the town, close to a quarry station.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Plateau State, Charles Ezeala, who confirmed the incident noted that investigation has commenced on the issue with a view to unravel the identity of those who may have worked with the suspect.
Meanwhile, the quarry manager, Engr. Toma Davou, said they came to the Quarry site in the morning and met the electrocuted lifeless body on the electric pole.
He said they raised alarm and called the Police and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps to the scene, saying they could not establish the identity of the victim.
Similarly, Spokesman of the vigilante group in Dadin Kowa, Aminu Mu’azu, said the incident could have happen at midnight as they used to put off light in the entire area, and take cover in strategic positions in order to secure the area.
