Oyo State: We didn’t mean to kill him, says Gideon Aremu’s Killer

OYO STATE – The Oyo State Police command has paraded an alleged notorious armed robber, Kola Arobiole a.k.a ‘Judgment’ that purportedly fired the bullet sending Gideon Aremu, the lawmaker who represented Oorelope state constituency in the Oyo State House of Assembly, to his early grave on July 1, 2016, at his Alakia residence, Ibadan.
The Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Mr Abiodun Odude, made it known that Kola Arobiole, the alleged runaway member of the armed robbery gang, who robbed and killed in a cold blood, the Oyo State lawmaker, “was arrested in his criminal hideout at Aisegba in Ekiti State, where he is leading another robbery gang that specialises in snatching motorcycles at Egbeda area of the state,”
‘Judgement was paraded alongside two other members of his gang, Taofeek Bashiru, 28, and Sulaiman Oladiti, 27.
The criminal who did not deny the fact that he shot the lawmaker, told newsmen that he had to shoot Aremu because the lawmaker had recognise one of them, Toheeb, who lived in the area (Alakia) and was also the Informant for the operation. According to him, when we wanted to rob him in front of his house, Aremu grabbed recognised and grabbed Toheeb, the informant that invited the gang members toAlakia for the operation.
“He held on to Toheeb’s cloth and started shouting ‘thief, thief, thief’. Toibu also lived at Alakia, if we did not do anything, we didn’t know what could have happened to us there. But, we did not know he was a lawmaker. We only wanted to rob him of His money because we were hungry. “It is true that I shot him, but he did not have cash on him, we only went away with his phone.” He declared.
