Nigeria Governor Orders Ministry Of Finance To Return Illegally Deducted Monies From Workers Salaries
- Advises workers to be polite when asking for their entitlements.
The executive governor of Niger State Abubakar Bello instructed the state’s account officers to return the amount they deducted from state workers back to the government coffers within 24hrs.
The governor gave the order on Wednesday during the 2019 Worker’s Day celebration at 123 Quarters Parade Ground in Minna.
Mr Bello said the civil servants had complained about illegal deductions in their March and April salary
The governor described it as unfortunate and vowed to get to the root of the problem.
He ordered the Ministry of Finance to address the anomalies, saying “let all the affected civil servants get their money within a space of time”
The governor also disclosed that he was aware of some sharp practices at the Ministry of Finance, some top officers paying themselves salaries of up to about four to five people.
He warned that anyone caught would not be save.
The governor also assured his people that he would pay the newly signed N30,000 minimum wage.
