Four suicide bombers donated improvised explosive device (IED) at the mosque Wednesday evening, TheCable understands.

Bello Danbatta, the spokesperson of the civilian joint task force (CJTF), confirmed the incident.

He told TheCable that the attack occurred around 6:16pm when Muslims faithful were observing the Magrib prayers.

Danbatta said the bombers, comprising of two males and two females, detonated their explosives in two separate locations in the area.

“The two males detonated their explosives in a mosque while the other two females targeted the resident in the area and detonated their IED,” he said.

“The victims were rushed to the general hospital while the dead ones were taken to the mogue.

Ismaila Abubakar, an eyewitness, told TheCable that four of his family members were killed in the mosque.

“We first heard two loud explosions, followed by another two loud explosions. My brothers who went to pray in the mosques were all killed.

“So sixteen people were killed including the suicide bombers,” he said.
