London Police Arrest A Man Over Death Of Elderly Woman In Tottenham
A woman was found dead in her home in Tottenham on Sunday.
The Police have launched an investigation into the death of the 89-year-old woman.
The London Police says it has arrested a man in connection to the murder.
At about 10.45 on Sunday 4th August 2019, Police were called by London Ambulance Service to a report of a body of an elderly woman found at an address in Waltheof Gardens, N17.
The woman who was pronounced dead at the scene has been identified as Dorothy Wooler.
Detectives are suspecting the incident is related to burglary but retain an open mind.
Investigators suspected the intruder gained entry to the woman’s house at some point between Saturday evening and Sunday evening.
A 22-year-old man has been arrested in Tottenham area on suspicion of murder shortly before 18.00hrs on Monday, 5 August.
The Police took him into custody at a north London Police station.
Detective Chief Inspector Garry Moncrieff of Specialist Crime said: “The woman had clearly been assaulted and, as such, a murder investigation has been launched.
“I want to hear from anyone who saw anything suspicious in and around Waltheof Gardens and the surrounding area on Saturday night or Sunday morning.”
