How Soldiers Killed Policemen To Free Me – Wadume Confesses
A suspected kidnap kingpin Hamisu Wadume has been re-arrested by the Nigerian police.
Wadume escaped two weeks ago after Nigeria soldiers shot three police officers who arrested him in Taraba State.
The arrested kingpin, in his confession on Tuesday afternoon at the Force Headquarter, implicated the soldiers in his release.
A team of anti-crime police in Taraba first arrested the suspect on the 6th of August.
While taking him to Jalingo, the state capital, some soldiers at the checkpoint opened fire on the team, killing three officers and one civilian.
The Nigeria soldiers did not deny the incident, however, claimed its officers thought the policemen were kidnappers as they refused to identify themselves.
The Police countered the soldiers claiming the 93 Batallion soldiers and top police officers had connived to free Wadume
An investigative panel comprising of the Police and Soldiers have been launched to unravel the culprits behind the incident.
Before the police camera on Tuesday afternoon, Wadume confessed that Nigerian army personnel killed four people to free him, collaborating the police’s suspicion.
Narrating the incident, Wadume said he was arrested in Ibi, Taraba state but “on our way out of Ibi, some soldiers open fire on the vehicle I was being transported in and killed some police officers, “ he said.
“The soldiers then took me to their headquarters and cut off the handcuff from my hands and set me free.
“I have been hiding since then until now that the police arrested me again,” he said.
