CHRSJ Calls for urgent dispensation of justices against the
A reputable Civil Rights Organization in Nigeria, the Centre for Human Rights and Social Justice (CHRSJ) has strongly demanded for quick
dispensation of justice against some of erring Police officers alleged
of one criminal allegation or the others in its Petition Letter forwarded to the authority of Nigeria Police Force (NPF), Police Service Commission (PSC), Nigeria Police Council (NPC), Minister for Interior and National Human Rights Commission (NHRC),saying that it is imperative for the authority concerned in the Police force to get rid of bad eggs who hide under the covers of Police uniform to unleashed the reign of terror against law abiding and innocent citizens and as well perpetrated evils in their different Police formations in the country.
In a Press Statement issued and Signed on Wednesday by the Executive Chairman of the group, Comrade Adeniyi, Alimi Sulaiman which copies were made available to Journalists, lamenting that the group embarked on its request tagged: “An Acceleration of Justice” to innocent Nigerians, expressing its great displeasure at the heinous Crimes being perpetrated by the Men of the Nigeria Police Force, particularly, the officers attached to the Magbon Federal SARS Office in Abeokuta, Idiroko and Owode Divisional Police Stations in Ogun State, Zone 2 Police Command Onikan, Lagos , Area “M” Police Area Command and Meiran Police Station with Idimu Divisional Police Stations in Lagos State under Area “M” Police Area Command.
Comrade Sulaiman maintained that the demands were in conformity with
the position of the rights group which stood for justice for all, recalled that apart from the Late Kolade Johnson’s mysterious death, who was illegally arrested, subjected to illegal torture and latter murdered in cold blooded by the trigger happy Police Inspector Ogunyemi Olalekan and his six (6) colleagues in Crime, including Godwin Orji which they were satanically exonerated by the Police authority.
He stressed that another Police excesses occurred at Kilo in Surulere area, which Police Officer shot a man to death and again in Soloki Police Station where a motorcyclist simply identified as Moshood Ademola was Killed by the Police Officer because of #200,00k, and Police Man also shot a bus driver dead at Mosan in Ayobo area of Lagos and the same occurence at Adamo Bus Stop, along Imota Road in Ikorodu, Lagos, a teenager was killed by Police officer without any proper investigation to it up till today, others were 17 year old boy, Aliu Oladeni who was clamped down and Killed in detention after illegally Collected the Sum of #160,000 as brribe by the Police Officers attached to Igando Police Station since June 2014,
Others are; Late Benson Obode, who died in Police custody on May 21st,
2015, Late Obode, a 26year old was arrested by four Policemen
including; Oriyomi Musa, Adeleke Adedeji,.Henry Shobowale and Abena
John from the Special Anti-Robbery Squad(SARS) in Lagos State and took
deceased family complete 63days before they could know that “Late
Benson Obode” was Killed by the aforementioned Police Officers on the
day he was illegally arrested and his body was deposited at the Benin
Central Hospital same day from Lagos. “Some Police officers are wicked
Sulaiman stressed further that the Late Sharkoor Zaid was allegedly Killed by Police Inspector Sanni Godwin OGEDEGBE of Magbon Federal SARS in 2015 when Killer Officer Ogedengbe was a Sergent with Lagos State Police Command in SARS Department and he was the IPO to Late Sharkoor Zaid on a Trumped-up-charge allegation leveled against Sharkoor and to surprise of Nigeria People, Ogedengbe secretly deposited Late Sharkoor’s body to Ikorodu General Hospital since 2015 until the matter came-up in 2018 at the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) Public Hearing on SARS reform, adding that Akeem Ofege was killed by a mobile Policeman named Sunday Wazo and Leegba (also a driver) was killed by a Police Inspector popularly called Prince attached to the Alakuko Police Station.
He added that the heinous crime committed by the security agents, especially Policemen in the country were many but just to mention a few.
According to him: Our objectives are to stand up against indiscriminate killings of innocent citizens by the undesirable elements in Nigeria Police Force and secondly, to see that quick dispensation of justice is done to our Petition letters against Police Officer “FRANCIS” of phone Number:- 08028271090 and his colleagues attached to Idimu Police Station under area “M” Police Command for illegally impounded the Toyota Highlander Jeep of Mr. Damiro Odunayo Adedamola Since Monday 15th day of October, 2018 for just no course but to extort the owner of the vehicle and this was
contained in a Petition Letter dated Monday 1st of April, 2019.
“Which another Petition letter dated Monday 18th day of March, 2019 against the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Meiran Police Station and one Officer MARTINS with his team for attempted murder of one Mr. Ismaila Danladi over bail gratification which they purportedly say it is free by the nation’s police authority.
“Our other Petition Letter dated 19th day of September, 2016 re-attached for review against erring Police Officer Swagger, Officer Rauf, Officer Bullet and Officer Teejay of Federal Anti Robbery Squad (F-SARS), Magbon in Abeokuta, Ogun State and the issue was before Police Officer Abraham Otitoju of Phone Number:- 07034324783 & 08082033286, attached to the Anti-Kidnapping Department, Zone 2 Police Command, Onikan, Lagos and other Petition letter is against Officer WOLE (a.k.a Baba SARS) of Phone Number 08034104255 and his team attached to Federal SARS, Magbon, including; one Elewure Kaseem, Madam Unice of phone Number 08138976026 for Attempted Murder, Day Light Robbery, illegal arrest, undemocratic torture and unlawful detention of one Mr. Lateef Wahab (a Transporter) from Owode Yewa to Ibadan inter State, calling for proper investigation of one Inspector Wasiu Ascari of Phone Number 08149549164 attached to Owode Police Station over threat to life and property of one Mr. Afolabi Sunday, an automobile Mechanics, the said Sunday was illegally arrested, detained and mercilessly tortured for period of two weeks in Owode police Station and Magon Federal SARS for no just cause.
“Lastly, the Petition Letter dated Thursday 3rd day of May, 2018 and Thursday 18th day of October, 2018 and forwarded to Inspector General of police(IGP) ,Assistant Inspector of General (AIG) zone 2 Command, Onikan Lagos and Ogun State Commissioner of Police,Eleweran,Abeokuta, are yet to be attended to by the concern Police authority because it involved unprofessional conduct of Senior Police officers in the area, where we requested for honest, unbiased and thorough review with a genuine investigation into alleged issues contained therein without any further delay
Sulaiman therefore advised the authorities of the Nigeria Police Force not to over-stressed the respect Nigeria people had for the force, by warning their rank and file against illegal arrest, extra-judicial killing, illegal torture, bribery and corruption, unlawful detention and other unconstitutional actions that were inimical to the conduct of the trained Nigeria Police officer.
