- EFCC arraigns Fayose for N2.2bn fraud
The immediate past governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose was escorted by a staff of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) into the Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos on Monday morning.
The governor arrived the court premises in a white bus at about 8.30am
The court was expected to sit at 9am.
Fayose is facing a criminal trial ranging from conspiracy, money laundering and N2.2bn fraud
The EFCC had slammed 11 count charge on the former governor.
The governor display some comic relief when he smiled at the camera, posed for the photographers and suddenly asked “Have you taken enough?”
He is being arraigned before Justice Mojisola Olatoregun.
Fayose was brought to court straight from the EFCC custody, where he had been detained since last week when he submitted himself to the anti-graft agency, shortly after the expiration of his immunity from prosecution.
The former governor is being defended by a former Attorney General of the Federation, Chief Kanu Agabi (SAN).
Agabi was also counselled for the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, when he was tried before the Code of Conduct Tribunal for alleged false asset declaration.
