FG’s Effort To Combat COVID-19 Is PR Stunts – PDP Knocks Buhari Over Relieve To Nigerians
The People’s Democratic Party, PDP has taken a swipe at the president Muhammadu Buhari led federal government over it’s poor palliative measures aimed at cushioning the effect of the lock down in some states of the federation.
The party’s national publicity secretary, Kola Ologbodiyan described the Federal government’s adoption of its social investment programme to give relieve materials to Nigerians as a public relations stunts.
Ologbodiyan while speaking on a radio programme on Wednesday monitored by NAIJA CENTER Correspondent, it described the palliative measures by the government as dead on arrival, noting that the Social Investment Programme has been a massive failure since inception.
“Adopting the Social investment programme to distribute relieve materials to Nigeria is dead on arrival. This is a programme that has failed woefully. Do you know any Nigeria that would tell you confidently that he has received money from the federal government? None. The programme has failed.
“On combating COVID -19, the federal government has to constitute eminent Nigerians to be in charge of the distribution or relieve materials.”
Asked why not the individual donors of these donations and relieve materials not giving them directly to these communities.
The main opposition spokesman replied saying : “Some communities would benefit while others will not. Not every community have Aliko Dangote, not every community have Mike Adenuga now Femi Otedola. That system will not work.
“The Buhari government wants to distribute foods to pupils to combat COVID -19, but we all know that schools have been under lock and key. The pupils are all at home. Who are they going to distribute the items to? ”
On while can’t the opposition party partner with the government rather than criticism.
Mr Ologbodiyan simply said: “which government do you want to partner with? Is it the Buhari administration that listens to nobody. A government that does what it likes. President Muhammadu Buhari was practically dragged to address Nigerians. Is that the government you partner with”, the PDP spokesman queried.
