Fayose Fails To Process Bail, Spends Weekend At Ikoyi Prison
The embattled immediate past governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose could not meet his bail condition on Friday and is expected to spend the weekend in prison.
A judge of the Lagos Division of the Federal High Court, Mojisola Olatoregun granted a N50 million bail to the former governor on Friday.
Fayose is facing a 11-count charge of conspiracy and money laundering amounting to N2.2 billion.
One of the conditions of the bail was Fayose to provide two sureties who must issue a N50 million bond in a reputable bank as well as posses three years tax clearance.
The directed that the former governor should also deposit his international passport with the court.
Fayose had pleaded not guilty to all the charges against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and could not meet the condition before the close of business on Friday.
So, the former governor is expected to spend his weekend in his Ikyoi Prison in Lagos pending when the bail is processed.
