Family, Inhabitants of Kidnapped Edo Ex-Commissioner Of Sports want Govt Intervention
The Family and Inhabitants of Former Commissioner For Youths and Sport Edo State, Presley Idiagbonya are calling on the State Government and Police Authority to intervene on the Kidnapping of their breadwinner.
They also debunked the rumours that their father had died in the hands of the hostage given that the body couldn’t be found.
Ife-Oluwa Idiagbonya one of the Victim’s Son who spoke with NAIJA CENTER said the Kidnappers demanded N15 million ransom to free the victim but pleaded they couldn’t afford it.
Ifeoluwa who narrated the incident said the kidnappers who stormed his father’s house with guns demanded the ransom.
Ifeoluwa said after combing the area are they yet to locate his father, expressing the belief that his father, is still alive.
Meanwhile, members of the community have unanimously appealed to the kidnappers to release Idiagbonya unhurt.
Continuing, he explained that,” afterwards we were able to raise a million Naira and sent to those who held my father hostage. They asked us to wait somewhere in the forest but a few minutes later I received a text message that our father was dead and the body was dumped somewhere. We went searching, but couldn’t find his body. We still believe that our father is alive because if we haven’t found his body yet”
Recall that, a group of gunmen reportedly kidnapped a former commissioner for sports in Edo State, Hon Egbe Ediagbonya who was also a former Local Government Chairman.
Ediagbonya was kidnapped in his Okada farm settlement near Utese, the Ovia North East at the early hours of Saturday.
A family source said he was kidnapped between 2 a.m and 4 a.m when the gunmen attacked his farmhouse and took him away at gunpoint.
Since the incident of his Kidnap, the quiet town of Okodo in Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo State has been thrown into confusion for the past days.
Our Correspondent who visited the community on a fact-finding mission, reports that search for the victim is still ongoing.
However, sympathizers, interest groups and youths of Okodo Community were conveyed at the residence of the former Local Government Transition Committee Chairman of Ovia North East Local Government Area who was also a former commissioner for Youths and Sports in Edo State, Presley Idiagbonya who was kidnapped in the early hours of on Saturday hoping and believing that he would return anytime Sooner.
Despite the high hopes, the inhabitant was sad about the development, adding, “Since the past three days they have been in all the nearby forest in search of Presley Idiagbonya.
On his part, younger brother to the victim who expressed the optimism that his brother would be released appealed to members of the public to stop carrying rumour of the death of Idiabonya.
Contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, Edo State Command, DSP Chidi Nwanbuzor confirmed the Kidnapping incident of Idiagbonya; adding that Police can not declare him since his body has not been found.
