The Recent Kidnap of Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital, ISTH, Irrua; Prof. Sylvanus Okogbeni, has sparked reactions from different quarters.

Reacting to the tragic incident, The National Chairman; United Registered Political Parties (URPP)- A body of 55 Political Parties across 36 States of Nigeria, Comrade Michael Obasuyi has said the incident was very unfortunate, and blamed it on the poor Security Architecture of the State.

Comrade Obasuyi who made this Statement in Benin City said that the major Problem in Edo State apart from Infrastructural deficit, Unemployment and Poverty is insecurity.

His Words” Once you take away Security from a State, then you have taken away Peace and tranquility. The People are suffering Chronic Unemployment, persisting Poverty, a deficit in infrastructure, and above all Insecurity. The rate of kidnapping in Edo State is completely off the charts. I am personally angry about this. And now, I am giving the Edo State Government and Edo Security architecture just three (3) days, 3 days to intervene and rescue unhurt the Professor, or face the Wrath of the People. We will revisit Security Votes and how it has been used all these Years, amongst others. Look, it may be me, or even you tomorrow, nobody is now safe anymore in the State.

I am currently planning a 1,000 March Protest for immediate intervention of the State to secure the rescue of the Professor, and even after that seek legal redress against the State, for failing to fulfil its duty to Protect lives and Property, which is her Primary Assignment amongst others.

I want to sympathise with all Management & Staff of ISTH, Irrua, and also assure them that He will come out of this unharmed.

As at the time of filing this report, it was gathered that Comrade Michael Obasuyi will be granting a Press Conference on the Matter on Tuesday, 28th August, 2019.

The Chief Medical Director, was said to have been kidnapped at Ramat Park in Benin City on his way back to Irrua.
