Governor obaseki has ordered the owners of the buildings in government land along benin technical college road to remove their structures from the government land.
The Governor made this known when he visited Benin technical college few months ago and discovered that many illegal buildings were built in government land around the school.
Sometimes last year, towards the end of the former governor of Edo State, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole’s administration, Ugbowo youths claimed they had approval from the state Government to sell a portion of the land to land developers.
The land in question was donated to the Government by Iyoba and Eweka families many years ago. It has about five government schools in it, these schools are: Iyoba Girls College, Benin Technical College, Federal Girls College, Eweka Secondary School, and Eweka Primary School.
The land was sold to the land developers, based on NAIJA CENTER NEWS findings, by an APC chieftain Mr. Lucky Imasuen, who also owned a hostel and a five star hotel in the parcel of land
When the land developers were buying the lands, the people around the Government land warned that the land belonged to the government, the developers ignored such warnings claiming that the APC chieftain who sold the land to them will help calm the Government dawn when the need arises.
As at the time of filling this report, some of the land developers were busy removing some of their unused blocks from the land, the hostel built by the apc chieftain has been demolished, the five star hotel has been marked for demolition.
NAIJA CENTER NEWS gathered that the land developers paid as high as 1.6 million naira for 50×100 plot of land in the area.
This move was seen as a welcome development by residence of Benin technical school Road as the buyers were warned before buying the land.
