Don’t Reply Oshiomhole’s Hostile Comment – Obaseki Tells Aides
For those expecting the rift between the Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki and his previous boss, Adams Oshiomhole to reach an end might wander off in fantasy land.
The crisis shaking the State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) went in a new direction over the weekend after Oshiomhole blamed his former political bride for sacking the main Commissioner he designated in his cabinet.
Oshiomhole, while talking on Channels Television additionally said he had never controlled Obaseki or meddled in his administrative style, this was in opposition to numerous claims that a one-time political godfather slayer had turned into a casualty of his conviction.
In August 2019, Obaseki led his supporters to celebrate with his former boss at his Iyamoh residence in Etsako West local government area of the state where Oshiomhole depicted him as his sibling.
Oshiomhole, who is the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) guaranteed that the individuals who had something to gain were in charge of the talk of fracture among him and Obaseki.
“From time to time, we have always been meeting. It is not an unusual visit, the meeting afforded me the opportunity to meet with my brother and with people I have worked with,” he said.
The harmony did not last after Oshiomhole, during a meeting on Channels Television said the governor has deserted his incomplete projects.
“We have no argument over money or appointment. In the meeting we held with four governors, including Governor Bagudu, I asked the governor, how many commissioners did I nominate in your cabinet. He agreed that I only nominated one person out of more than 20 commissioners,” Oshiomhole said.
“Not many Nigerians will believe that because for me I was out of government and I have convinced myself that the day I step out of government, that is it. After that first meeting, the governor decided to remove that one commissioner along with seven others. But that is not my business.
“The governor can never tell you that I have interfered in his choice of projects and so on. The only thing I feel a bit worried about is that some of the projects we started together have been abandoned. There is no way to solve disagreements without talking to the aggrieved parties.
“Let me assure you. This governor is not under threat. It is those who make money from the crisis, those I call merchants of confusion, who can tell the governor that he wants to be impeached. What will I gain if Godwin does not run a second term?”
In a statement jointly signed by the Commissioner for Communication and Orientation, Barr. Paul Ohonbamu and the Special Adviser to Edo State Governor on Media and Communication Strategy, Mr Crusoe Osagie, the governor ordered his aides not to respond to Oshiomhole “hostile statements”
Obaseki says the APC Chairman’s announcement was a surge against him and his government.
Obaseki said he has sought after the way of harmony and compromise in managing these issues in light of a legitimate concern for the great individuals of Edo State and “our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).”
The beginning of the crack is yet to be known as the two fighters continue faking numbness while talking in enigmas.
While Oshiomhole’s foot soldiers want Obaseki gone for slighting their chief, Obaseki reliably kept up that Edo cash has a place with the people and not intended to share to chosen few.
