Doctors Kidnapped In Ondo-Edo Border

Hijackers attacked an ambulance carrying medical equipment at the Ondo and Edo State border on Friday.
The incident which was reported by thecable said some medical officials were inside the ambulance, a white Totoya Hiace bus at the time of the attack.
The network, according to a source, said there were drugs meant for the treatment of Lassa fever patients which was being conveyed to an undisclosed location when the Hijackers struck.
“The team was travelling in the bus (ambulance) to deliver the medical equipment meant to fight the Lassa Fever when the gunmen struck on Benin road,” the source said.
“They ambushed, and attacked the medical team and later shot at the security personnel in the vehicle as I was told, they kidnapped those in the ambulance.”
The spokesman of the Ondo Police command, Femi Joseph could not be reached to comment on the incident, the network revealed.
Ondo is currently battling high level of insecurity. Early in the week, the governor Rotimi Akeredolu, lamented how gunmen targeted his convoy.
He said his aide opened fire to scare the suspects away.
