A report reaching Naija Center News from the University of Ibadan Campus has it that the heavy downpour this evening in most part of the city has caused physical damages to some buildings in the University of Ibadan Campus.
The rain that lasted few hours around the Campus area was said to have been windy, which as a result led to the destruction of some major parts of the Student Union Government (SUG) building and that of the Boy’s hostel (Teda Hall) among others.
According to one of the Post Graduate Students, most of the University’s buildings are due for one kind of Maintenance or the other, for instance, the Tedar Hall already has a weak roofing that is supposed to have been attended to before now, she said.
According to an Undergraduate Student, the extent of the damage could delay academic activities in the Campus till July, Another unconfirmed source disclosed that the Authority has earlier contemplated increasing the Hostel accommodation fee of Students living on Campus from a fee lesser that 20thousand to over 30thousand Naira, and added that this incident might hasten the Authority’s decision to implement the increment.
There is no case of loss of life as at the time of filing this report.
