Crime News: Grieving Mother Kidnapped Son’s Look Alike

An Igbo Woman identified as Grace Ugochukwu has kidnapped Godwin Ibrahim in Mabuchi, along Kafanchan/ Kaduna Express, Kaduna South, Kaduna State.
Godwin, 19, is a secondary graduate. He went missing on the 22nd of January, 2019 after leaving home for a church event.
NAIJA CENTER NEWS gathered that Grace had lost his son, who she said looked exactly like Godwin.
Upon seeing him, he kidnapped him and whisked him to Benin where he repeatedly locked and drugged him pending when she finalized means to convey him.
A family member who spoke to our correspondent said the family refused to involve the police as they weren’t sure if the boy was kidnapped until the grieving woman called to disclose her intention.
Grace also promised to pay the family N500,000 or more for a total relinquish of the boy, an offer they refused.
It was gathered that the kidnapper is based in Ugbowo area of Benin, according to a woman who identified herself as Blessing Joseph, claimed to be Grace’s cook.
She disclosed to our correspondent that her boss came with a strange boy home whom she locked upstairs, and repeatedly drugged until she came to take him on Monday, the 11th of March.
The houseboy said Joseph was confused due to the daily injection of drugs. “He couldn’t remember his name,” she said.
Grace is said to be a Nigerian based in the United States. She had recently lost her husband and her young son.
She could not be reached as the cooked said her boss had returned to the United States with the boy she kidnapped.
A police officer in Kaduna whose name could not be ascertained spoke with our correspondent on phone. He confirmed that the station was briefed on the matter on Monday. He noted that the family did not inform the police on time until yesterday.
