COVID-19: Nigeria Records 339 New Cases, Total 7,016

  • NCDC discharges 67 new patients of COVID-19
  • Nigeria lost additional 11 patients to Coronavirus complications

Nigeria has recorded 339 new cases of COVID-19, according to the nation’s disease control agency.

Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC disclosed it via Twitter.

The new cases bring the total confirmed COVID-19 cases to 7,016.

According to the health agency, Lagos recorded 139 cases followed by Kano and Oyo states with 28 cases respectively.

The next in line is Edo State with 25 cases followed Katsina with 22. Kaduna reported 18 cases, Jigawa with 14 while Yobe and Plateau confirmed 13 cases each.

Other states with new cases include the Federal Capital Territory with 11 cases, eight confirmed in Gombe, Ogun recorded 5, Bauchi and Nasarawa with 4 cases each, Delta State reported 3 new cases, Ondo also reported 2 new cases while Rivers and Adamawa confirmed 1 case each.

The health agency also reported that it has discharged 67 new patients bringing the total to 1,907.

Unfortunately, Nigeria fatalities increased by 11, making a total death toll of 211.

Boss Mustapha, the Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 warned states relaxing restrictions for religious reasons to be careful.

Mustapha also advised Nigerians to be responsible during the Sallah festivities to avoid complicating the spread.

President Muhammadu Buhari announced lockdown in Nigeria since March as part of the measures to curtail the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.

So far, according to a tally from official sources collated by AFP on Thursday, the virus has killed at least 329,799 people worldwide since it first broke in Wuhan China in December 2019.
