A breastfeeding mother collapses in Benin as hunger bites harder

There was a chaos in house number 31 Omwamruyi Street off Universal bus stop terminal, Benin City as Mrs Odion almost died of hunger.

The incident happened around 1am on the 24th of August 2017.

The first child of the woman named Uwaila shouted “help me ¡help me!”. This prompted other neighbours to rushed towards the direction of Mrs Odion’s room. The one room apartment was forced opened and the woman was unconscious

The neighbors managed to revived the woman using the local methods known to them, and they quickly rushed her to Evangel medical centre along new Lagos Road Benin city where she was revived.

The husband of the woman wasn’t at home when this incident happened. He was a bus driver whose bus was taken from him by the owner early this year as he couldn’t meet up with his payment.

Life has been tough for the family as they  depend on neighbors to feed them.  Some of the occupants of the apartment told NAIJA CENTER NEWS that the husband is a lazy man who can’t take care of the breastfeeding mother, Mrs Odion and her three daughters.

Mrs Odion mother was contacted the next morning, she came and took her daughter home, as at the time of filling this report, Mr Odion claimed he went to look for money to buy food for the family when the incident happened,.

He rushed to see his wife in her family house where she is being taken care of by her mother.

It was discovered that Mrs Odion who is a breastfeeding mother has not eaten for two days before the incident, she reserved the food given to her by neighbors for her children
