The supreme court on Monday affirmed the election of Abdullahi Ganduj and Aminu Tambuwal as governor of Kano and Sokoto state respectively.

The apex court ruled in the suit filed by Abba Kabir Yusuf, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), challenging the election of Ganduje, candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC).

While in the same vein, the court upheld the election of Aminu Tambuwal, candidate of the PDP, as the governor of Sokoto state.

Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto, candidate of the APC, had filed an appeal challenging Tambuwal’s victory.

The supreme court verdict on the the governorship elections were eagerly awaited following last week sacking of Enema Ihedioha of Imo state.

In that ruling, the seven man panel of the court installed Hope Uzodinma, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC as duly elected governor.
