The Senate has rejected the nomination of the acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr Ibrahim Magu over the report of the Department of State Services (DSS).
Addressing newsmen, the spokesman of the Senate, Senator Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi said the rejection was based on the DSS report.
Crowd as Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr Ibrahim Magu left the National Assembly Complex after his rejection.
Magu alongside other nominees of the commission had stormed the Senate this morning for screening.
At the pre – sitting meeting of the Senate at the Senate President Office, Senators were said to have engaged each other in a war of words.
The meeting which started around 9.50am lasted till 11.am. From the meeting , the senators moved to the floor.
Our correspondent reports that immediately after the prayers, the Senate President, Bukola Saraki announced the executive session.
Senator Dino Melaye(APC, Kogi) was seen shouting on top of his voice. He was said to have tongue lashed a principal officer at the meeting, presided over by Saraki.
The screening of Magu was postponed from last Thursday to today.
