Breaking: NCDC Announces 2 New Coronavirus Cases In Nigeria
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has announced two new cases of Coronavirus.
This was announced via Twitter on Tuesday morning.
The two new cases were discovered in Lagos and in Ogun State.
One case is a returning traveller while the other is a contact of previously confirmed cases, the NCDC says.
“2 new cases of #COVID19 have been confirmed in Nigeria. 1 is in Lagos State & 1 in Ogun One case is a returning traveller. The second case is the contact of a previously confirmed case As at 1pm on March 24, there are 42 confirmed cases of #COVID19 in Nigeria-2 discharged, 1 death,” the tweet read.
This brings the total confirmed cases in Nigeria to 42: 29 in Lagos State, 7 in Abuja, 1 in Edo State while Ogun State has 3 cases, Ekiti, Oyo both have 1 case each.
The nation recorded its first death on Monday.
The deceased was a former managing director of a petroleum Products Marketing Company (PPMC) Suleiman Achimugu who died after a trip to the United Kingdom.
The government said it has put measures to curb the spread of the virus, however, with the rate at which the virus is spreading, it might cause a nationwide panic.
The government has ordered the closure of schools, airports, land borders, suspension of events, ban on gathering and directives to allow civil servants to work from home.
