Anti-Graft Crusade: Youths Crucial In Preventive Mandate – EFCC

The Nigerian youths are crucial elements in tackling the scourge of Corrupt Practices as well as the Commitments of president Mohammadu Buhari’s Government on Preventive Mandates.

In this regard, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, in conjunction with the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC and other Relevant stakeholders held the first-ever Nigerian youths Walk against Corruption in Edo State.

Speaking earlier today, in Benin City, the Zonal Coordinator, EFCC, Muhtar Bello, says the need to engage the youths on the new perspective of the prevention mandate, informed the road work.

He disclosed that the road work exercise was targeted, at mobilising and sensitising the society, particularly the youths on the crusade against corruption, was the first of its kind in the commission.

According to him, “Public enlightenment and sensitization about the menace of corruption have become more increasingly imperative as we continue to check the evils of economic and Financial Crimes in our midst. As you know, youths constitute the bulk of our population and they are the realities and strength of our future and it is unique.

EFCC will not relent in its work against it and every Nigerian must awake to the need for us to combat the evil together”,

Bello, however, lamented the channelling of energy by the average Nigerian youths into negative ventures, saying the EFCC was poised to change the narrative through regular reorientation.

On his part, the State Coordinator, National Youth Service Corps, Adebayo Ojo said the loan scheme programs of the Federal Government has a lot to do in the fight against corrupt practices.

He maintained that the Corps Members are more than ready to develop new modalities of engagement in the anti-corruption fight.

However, the Coordinator-General, Edo Civil Society Organizations, Comrade Omobude Agho said, it was apt an effort put together by the Anti Graft Commission especially coming at a time when citizens Mark Valentine’s day.
