Anthony Joshua Shows Off Heavy-Weight Champion Belts To Buhari
The World heavyweight champion, Anthony Joshua met with the Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari in London on Saturday.
The Nigeria-born British boxer presented his belts to the President.
Joshua reclaimed his title from the Mexican boxer Andy Ruize Jr in December after a battle in Saudi Arabia.
The belt was held by President Buhari, members of his cabinets, diplomatic corps and Head of the Diaspora Commission (Abike Dabiri-Erewa.
The boxer is currently under pressure to fight the Bulgarian boxer Kubrat Pulev or lose his IBF title.
Joshua has been informed that he must defend his title against Pulev who pulled out of fighting him in 2017.
Sky Sports reports that a spokesman for the governing body said: “I have just been told that the Pulev and Joshua camps have asked until January 31 to negotiate.”
Buhari met Nigerians including Joshua in the diaspora in the United Kingdom on Saturday.
Though he is widely respected for his title, the heavyweight champion did not forget his root as he portrait, according to Nigerian culture, before the Nigerian President and his entourage.
